Playing To Learn

"Playing To Learn"

A great Op-Ed piece by Susan Engel that appeared in the New York Times on February 1, 2010. Family Connections also believes strongly in this approach to child development and we use this model to work with parents in helping them to understand the value of play in their child(ren)'s education.

Modeled after Portola Family Connections popular Preschool readiness program, Next Steps at EFC will be in the afternoons and will begin this month! We are so proud of this achievement, as it shows the continuous growth and hard work of the staff at Excelsior and Portola Family Connections!

Our Parent Advisory Committee is taking off in a new and exciting direction! Come to the next meeting on this Friday, February 5, 2010, facilitated by our Community Builder, Elizabeth Ortega-Toro. Come and see how YOU can be a parent leader in your community!

Our annual Chinese New Year Community Party will be held Friday, February 19, 2010 from 4:30 - 6:30pm. It's the year of the Tiger!
