Pre Kindergarten (Pre K) is a program that offers young children a rich, child centered curriculum designed to prepare them for kindergarten. We are pleased to offer the gold standard in Pre K staffing: 6 children to 1 teacher. Two of our teachers hold BA’s in Child Development, and the third has a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit. Our talented bilingual, bicultural and friendly teachers interact with children in ways that stimulate their cognitive, emotional, mental, physical and social development. Using a variety of activities within the child-centered classroom including: dramatic play; art; quiet reading; math concepts; pre-reading and writing; singing and accompanying movement; our teachers positively reinforce and build a child's educational skill set.
Throughout the program's daily schedule, teachers model and reinforce socially appropriate behavior such as sharing, manners, courtesy, and self-control.
Additionally, Pre-K supports parents and caregivers to be vital partners in their child's educational success. We do this by providing parents with information about child-development and teaching-strategies, which helps them to help their children achieve school readiness and encourage life-long learning.
Pre-K serves a total of 36 children daily (18 in the morning and 18 in the afternoon) and 36 parents/caregivers daily. We serve a total of 40 unduplicated children annually (last year 4 children left the program and 4 took those slots); we serve a total of 50 unduplicated parents/caregivers annually (for some children, more than one caregiver is actively involved.)
