PROGRAMS FOR INFANTS, TODDLERS AND CHILDREN: Homework Club

During the school year, the Homework Club is offered to Kindergarten – 5th graders from 2:40 to 6:00 p.m. each school day, with snacks provided. Children are supervised and tutored by staff with support from parents/caregivers and community volunteers. As a primary feature of the program, children spend at least 45 minutes each afternoon participating in our Good Reading Opens Worlds Program (GROW), which includes KidzLit, an afterschool literacy program, and other activities such as silent reading, playing literacy games on the computer, or listening to a Read Aloud story. Students also participate in KidzMath, a unique math curriculum which includes fun and engaging math games that reinforce math skills. When the homework and literacy activities are completed, Homework Club provides enrichment activities like the Comic Book Project, an arts an literacy based program that takes the students trough the writing process to create their very own comic book, and Tree Frog Treks, a science and literacy based program that strives to create critical thinkers who will work to save, preserve and maintain our planet’s biodiversity by introducing them to live rescued reptiles and amphibians; offering fun, hands-on science, literacy and art programming; and exploring nature. Homework Club also celebrates many holidays and cultural events that inspire children's delight and wholehearted participation.

The student-teacher ratio is 1:13. Teachers are licensed childcare professionals. Children are separated according to grade levels while doing their homework.
